Manatee County

Audubon Society

The Manatee County Audubon Society (MCAS) is dedicated to raising awareness of birds, wildlife, and the native habitat in Manatee County and the nearby areas like our very own Felts Audubon Preserve, with the primary goal of safeguarding, conserving, and restoring the natural environment.

Our Mission

Our mission is to protect, preserve, and restore the natural environment by creating an awareness and appreciation of birds, wildlife, and our native habitat in Manatee County and the surrounding areas.

Manatee County Audubon is a chapter of the National Audubon Society with a mission to promote the conservation and appreciation of birds and wildlife habitat. We accomplish this through maintaining wildlife habitats like the Felts Audubon Preserve, offering education programs for members of all ages, leading advocacy efforts, and participating in land and wildlife conservation projects.

Hotspots

Manatee County Audubon Society

Hotspots are shared locations where birders may report their sightings most often in Manatee County. These areas are conducive to bird watching and are places in our community where birders would likely enjoy birding.

Felts Preserve

Manatee County Audubon Society

Felts Audubon Preserve, a 28-acre public preserve, is known for its walking trails and bird-watching opportunities throughout the scenic, park-like bird sanctuary.  The owners, Manatee County Audubon Society (MCAS), committed to placing a permanent conservation easement on the land, fulfilling the dream of original landowners, Otis and Anita Felts, who hoped the land would never be developed.
