Join Sarah Denison Williams with Conservation Foundation of the Gulf Coast for a guided walk through Myakka Headwaters Preserve. This unique property, only open to the public during special events and guided tours, is situated at the source of the Myakka River, where seven creeks converge. The Preserve’s floodplain forests contain tupelo, pop ash, and red maple trees, supporting threatened orchids and air plants. Participants should bring a water bottle and wear comfortable clothing for walking outdoors. We recommend sun protection, bug spray, and closed-toe shoes that strap or tie to your feet, no flip-flops. Depending on rainfall patterns, some of the trails may be flooded. Please note there are no restrooms or water fountains available on site.
The nearest restroom is located at Myakka Community Park.
