Young birders Ages 9 to 17 reserve a spot in joining the Florida Young Birder’s Club on a Celery Fields guided walk with Sophia Haakman. This walk is open to Florida Young Birders Club members, Manatee Audubon members and members of the Sarasota Audubon Society.
Walk to Raymond Road boardwalk looking for birds in the wetlands area of Celery Fields. (3 miles round trip in the sun)
To date, 246 species have been recorded at Celery Fields. Wintertime offers particularly good birding, hosting sparrows, Marsh and Sedge Wrens, and several species of rails, including Sora and Virginia. The Fields also host breeding birds, including Black-necked Stilts, King Rail, Least Bittern, Limpkin, Purple Gallinule, Barn Owl and Eastern Meadowlark.
