Terra Ceia Preserve State Park Guided Bird Walk

Join Manatee Audubon for a guided bird walk along the Hightower Trail at Terra Ceia Preserve State Park, a stunning 2,000-acre coastal mosaic of pine flatwoods, mangrove swamps, salt marshes, and hammock forests. Led by knowledgeable guides-Billie & Jerry Knight, participants traverse sections of the Pine‑Flatwoods Loop, Hammock Loop, and Salt‑Flat Spur—peering through mangrove tunnels and scanning tidal flats for wading birds, shorebirds, and raptors such as little blue herons, white ibis, roseate spoonbills, and possibly bald eagles. The trail system, featuring three interconnected segments totaling around six miles, offers both easy and moderate walking, through distinctive habitats shaped by the body of water along Terra Ceia Bay. Expect a two-hour immersive experience: bring water, binoculars, sun protection, and sturdy footwear, then enjoy optional social time afterward—if interested join the group for breakfast at Popi’s Restaurant.
